Abyssal complexity

A popular image in the OSM world shows an iceberg. The tip of the iceberg shows the most obvious aspects of mapping: amenities, adding addresses to the map. The deeper you dig, the more complicated it gets: the OSM data model, tagging standards, complex editing software, or the underlying layers of software and support infrastructure. The more experience you get with OSM, the more you become aware of the role of boundaries, multipolygons, rendering engines, and more.

Several hundreds meters below the surface of the ocean lies tho most difficult maintenance task ever: bus route relations.
